Activities to try at home:
1. Word fun!
Cleo makes up her own expressions when things go wrong or for good times- such as: "Triple fudge and Fridgidaire" p. 24 "horriful", "splendarvelous" p. 51 "Nuts and Nintendo!" p.53 "Corn dogs and Costco!" p. 72 Try creating some of your own! 2. Fortune's Principle #10 - give away 10% of your profits If you made money babysitting, or for chores, or saved allowance - what are some places you would donate some of your dollars to? (homeless shelters, animal shelters, environmental groups, cancer research, disaster relief, food banks, or do some research to find what you care most about. 3. Cleo proud of her name -Cleopatra - because she is named for a smart and powerful African Queen. Do you know how and why you got your name? Do you know what it means? On p. 111 Cleo thinks about her Persuasion Power - a set of skills that she plans to package and market such as, "Stop Whining, Start Winning", Charm Them to Disarm Them: How to be so cute they can't say no". Can you think of any ways that you use to persuade others, or persuade your parents to let you do something? 6. Not all of Cleo's ideas are well thought out. Here are 4 guiding questions to decide if Cleo's actions are a good idea: Is it truthful? Is it fair to all concerned? Will the action build goodwill and better friendships?
