Homes Around the World
First graders studied Homes Around the World to find out about different types of homes, including houseboat, homes on stilts, adobe, huts, cabins and igloos. Students used PebbleGo and Facts4Me to take notes on a graphic organizer to discover what a home is built of, and what is around them, and where they are built. Next students built a model of their home using a variety of materials sent in by parents, including cardboard, cotton balls, pebbles, straws etc. The students worked in pairs to create their models. Next, using Explain Everything, they explained their model and what they know about their type of house.
