In second grade, students read a version of The Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk or The Billy Goats Gruff. In pairs or groups, they worked together using the engineering design process, to identify a problem in the story, brainstorm potential solutions, choose one solution to plan and build, then test, and reflect on what went well and what changes could be made to improve their design.
