Lucy is passionate about photography and trying to impress her famous photographer father who is often away on a shoot. Then her family moves to a new house on a lake and she is determined to find friends over the summer before school starts. She meets Nate, the boy next door, and his family who have spent summers at the lake for generations. They are trying to save the baby loons who nest in the lake and Lucy joins in their quest. Nate in turn begins helping Lucy find the right photos for a contest she enters anonymously because her father is a judge. Over the summer, Lucy learns more about photography, friends, protecting nature and the importance of making memories with family. Grade 4-6.
