On March 19, three Patton 3rd grade students, Madeline, Claire and Brooke, traveled with their families and their library director (me) to Springfield to testify in front of the House Agriculture and Conservation Committee in support of HB 4410. The bill makes the penalty for operating a puppy mill much harsher. HB 4410 was introduced by Illinois Representative David Harris after he was inspired by Madeline, Claire and Brooke who wrote to him with their concerns for the puppies and dogs in puppy mills. Representative Harris invited the students to talk about their concerns on March 19. After the girls testified, the Committee voted 14-0 in favor of the Bill. The Bill will now go to the Senate.
