In 5th grade, students learn how to create a book trailer that makes the viewer want to read the book! First we viewed trailers made by authors and by students and then discussed the elements that made them compelling. Then each student chose one realistic, science fiction or mystery they read this school year and planned their opening hook, images, and how to unfold the story, telling just enough but not too much! Finally, using iMovie app on our iPads, each student found images, added text or voice, and music and/or sound effects to reel in their audience!
