Fifth grade student's have been working in LMC this past month on designing and creating a book trailer from a realistic or science fiction book they have read and enjoyed. A book trailer, which is similar to a movie trailer, tries to interest the viewer in reading the book. First students took time to view book trailers by other student's and by authors who often create a trailer to help advertise their new book. Next they created a book trailer plan, identifying the problem in the story, a hook, and a list of the images they will need to tell the story. Finally they worked with the iMovie app on the iPad, bringing in images, adding text or their voice (or both) and finally adding music from the iMovie choices, Garageband or some copyright free You Tube music choices. During the last week of school we held a "film festival" complete with popcorn (or goldfish crackers) to view the student creations. Below are the trailers from Ms. Anderle's class but be sure to check out the other classes' work on the 5th Grade Student Projects Page.
