Tom Watson, author and illustrator of the very funny and engaging Stick Dog series and soon the Stick Cat series, visited Patton on Friday, April 21. He talked to 2nd, 3rd and some 4th grade classes about how and why he created the Stick Dog series and developed each of the characters. He also gave our students an advanced look at his new book Stick Cat which won't be in the stores for a few weeks! Then he taught the students how to draw each character, one step at a time. With clipboards, paper and pencils, students followed every move and were rewarded with Stick Dog, Stripes, Mutt, Poo Poo, Karen and Stick Cats to take home. Mr. Watson signed his drawings for Patton and we auctioned them off to benefit Patton's Walkathon for Make-a-Wish at the Patton Art Show. It was a memorable afternoon, take a look:
