As third graders studied the history of Illinois and the development of the city of Chicago, they created an online collaborative timeline. First the class split up into groups to each study a period of the history and choose 4 or 5 events of importance during that period. After researching the who, what, where and when of the event and thinking about why it was important to Illinois, each student entered information for one event onto a timeline in Tiki-Toki. After entering the content, they chose a good image and an authoritative link to include for more information. Here is the timeline created by Mrs. Leigh's class:
My Reading List!
I am the Library Media Center director at Patton School in Arlington Heights where I help students from kindergarten through 5th grade find terrific independent reading for enjoyment and information, and teach students the skills to use information and technology safely and productively and to connect, communicate and share with others. I have four grown children, a large black dog, (flat coat retriever) and a small striped cat. I am an obessive Chicago Cubs fan and I love to run.
