As their unit on Explorers of the New World comes to a close, 4th graders participated in a map activity in which they examined the first map of the world that included "America". The map was drawn in 1507 based on information from the voyages of Amerigo Vespucci and Christopher Columbus. Students first pieced the map together and then wrote observations of the placement and shapes of the land masses, symbols and labels and reflected on what was known and unknown in 1507.
